Have a "greyt" day

Several months ago I lost my beloved doxie BearBear. My heart shattered into bits that I still don't think I have been able to put back in place. He was the heartbeat of our house, he would smile (I swear), french kiss me, and as I like to say..if I would stop too quickly I would have his furry little feet hanging out of my ass..we were inseperable. We had him cremated and he is now on my dresser with his little tinkle ball sitting on top of his beautiful wooden box. It is fitting, he hated to be wet, covered in snow or hot, but most of all he hated to be alone so now he is with us always.

My grandmother always said that you couldn't trust someone who wasn't an animal lover, there is a part of me that believes that. They are so vulnerable and trusting, it hurts me to think of someone hurting them. My kids love to hear the story about how in the middle of a heated argument I was on my way to pick up some things at my fiances house, and I was sure that if I made it there before him I would gather my things and never look back (yeah, right) anyway, on my way I hit a oppossum and as I was crying I called J on the phone and told him that he needed to move him off the road when he came upon him. He did, and I never left him..figured he can't be all bad if he would move a dead oppossum for me right?

Well, time moves on and everyone wanted me to have a dog to call my own again. The kids are at the oldest spectrum 23 and at the lowest spectrum 14 and really don't "need" me like they used to and I loved having a dog like Bear. Soooooo....what is a girl to do? She does her research and comes up with two options for her family and her new pet, a doxie was definately out of the picture because the poor fella wouldn't stand a chance to fill those shoes and we still have one doxie that is 12 (I shall save his story for another time). The final decision was made and we are now the proud owners of one 75lb. greyhound. Yes, I have lost my mind..thank you for noticing.

He is amazing, so gentle and loving and HUGE. His soft little head and ears just kill you, and if that isn't enough he has these beautiful brown eyes that just eat at you. I am adjusting to having bigger dog, but I don't think he is "my dog". He really is my fiances dog, since he is home with him all day...they are inseperable and both of them seem happy beyond belief. It makes me a little sad because I was so wanting a dog that would need and love me the way that I need and love them, but maybe in your life you only get one BearBear.

and, maybe that is okay
